EGUSD EDUCATORS, AND AMY VIDRA – APRIL 1-27, 2023, PLUS THE ELK GROVE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS ON APRIL 29

Elk Grove, March 1, 2023 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center presents EGUSD Art Educators and the works of Amy Vidra, on exhibition April 1-27, 2023. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception and Awards Presentation on April 1 from 4-7PM. Plus, the Elk Grove Festival of the Arts returns for a second year at the Old Town Plaza in Elk Grove on April 29, 2023 from 10AM-5PM.

In partnership with the Elk Grove Unified School District we are pleased to present the educator’s companion exhibition to the student show held in February 2023. EGUSD Employees will present Inspiration, Education, and Art in the main gallery during April, with work in all mediums. In the Foyer Gallery, Amy Vidra returns to the Center with an exhibition of paintings, assemblage, and sculpture in Lines, Lineage, Ravel: Good Luck Kid.

Returning for a second year at the Old Town Plaza in Elk Grove, the Elk Grove Festival of the Arts will be held on April 29, 2023 from 10AM-5PM. This annual celebration of the visual and performing arts includes Fine Art Booths, Live Performances, Food and Wine, a Youth Arts Show, Kids Zone, and more. The event is free and open to the public, and is graciously sponsored by the City of Elk Grove, Elk Grove Arts Commission, ARDENT for life magazine, and Motif Green.

ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL – MARCH 4-23, 2023

Elk Grove, February 1, 2023 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center presents All Creatures Great and Small, an annual art competition, on exhibition March 4-23, 2023. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception and Awards Presentation on March 4 from 4-7PM.

Our popular animal themed show returns for another year – from animals that fly or crawl to those that walk or swim. Artists have been asked to capture the essence of an animal in a creative and expressive way in all mediums. Awards will be given for Best of Show, First, and Second Place winners.

EGUSD STUDENTS AND GERALD BARNES – FEBRUARY 4-23, 2023

Elk Grove, January 1, 2023 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center presents A Celebration of Art with EGUSD Students, and Layers of Life with Gerald Barnes on exhibition February 4-23, 2023. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception and Awards Presentation on February 4 from 4-7PM.

A Celebration of Art brings together art students in grades 9-12 from the Elk Grove Unified School District for an open art competition. Work in all mediums will be used to expression emotion, challenge artistic expression, and to surprise us. Sacramento-based artist Marcelle Wiggins serves as awards judge for this exhibition.

In the Foyer Gallery Gerald (Jerry) Barnes brings photographic and mixed-media collage in Layers of Life, a collection that mimics the stages of life we all have gone through (some with ease and others with difficulty).

Fanciful Visions is the first art competition of 2023 at the Center and is judged by local artist Dwight Head.

SMALL TREASURES AND HOLIDAY ART GIFTS – THROUGH DECEMBER 29, 2022

Elk Grove, November 1, 2022 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center continues the 11th Annual Small Treasures Show and Sale through December 29, 2022, with additional local artwork presented for holiday art gift giving. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception on December 3 from 4-7PM.

Small Treasures is an important fundraiser supporting EGFAC’s local gallery events, art classes for all ages or abilities, and educational outreach programs. Each participating artists creates a unique themed series of five small treasures on 5×7 wooden panels which may be purchased individually or in groups. Additional holiday and winter themed panels will be displayed and included in a raffle, with winning tickets announced on December 3, 2022.

During the final month of the year our affiliate and associate artists share new work in holiday themes. These smaller works are a perfect choice for holiday gift giving and include a selection of jewelry, pottery, art prints, and ornamental artwork for trees and home displays.

11TH ANNUAL SMALL TREASURES – NOVEMBER 5 – DECEMBER 29, 2022

Elk Grove, October 1, 2022 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center will present the 11th Annual Small Treasures Show and Sale, November 5 – December 29, 2022. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception on November 5 from 4-7PM.

The range of media and subject matter is designed to be affordable at a consistent $50 price.

SWEET! AND THE 11TH ANNUAL ART TOUR – OCTOBER 1-27, 2022

Elk Grove, September 1, 2022 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center will present Sweet!, an exhibition featuring Polly LaPorte and Robert Gonsowski, October 1-27, 2022, and the 11th Annual Art Tour on October 8, 2022. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception on October 1 from 4-7PM.

“Sweet! captures the bold and delicious colors and shapes of desserts of all kinds. Sacramento artists and friends Polly LaPorte and Robert Gonsowski sought something fun and interesting to paint together. Their effort developed into a lively and interactive exchange of ideas and techniques found in this delectable series of oil paintings.”

Also this month the Center presents our 11th Annual Art Tour on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 10AM-4PM. The Annual Art Tour allows us to showcase many of the talented artists in our community, present them with an opportunity to sell their works, and offer art lovers a chance to meet the artists in an informal setting. This event also features an art raffle allowing patrons to support the Center and win an original work of art by participating artists.

THIS IS SURREAL, AND VIC BICOMONG – SEPTEMBER 3-22, 2022

Elk Grove, August 1, 2022 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center will present This is Surreal, an art competition show, and Vic Bicomong in the Foyer Gallery, September 3-22, 2022. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception on September 3 from 4-7PM.

In our final art competition of 2022 we are tapping into the hidden reservoirs of artist creativity in a show that is heavily influenced by the art of Dada. Artists were asked to activate their unconscious minds to defy logic to create works that evoke randomness, spontaneity, and dream-like scenes.

The Center will also exhibit The Eclectic Artist Vic L. Bicomong in the Foyer Gallery. A self-taught artist, Bicomong is known for the diversity of styles in his work, allowing a gallery to appear as though multiple artists are showing at the same time. Bicomong is retired from the Elk Grove Post Office, has completed mural work in San Francisco, and now shares his artistic talent with the local community and his family.

The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center is pleased to participate in Sacramento Open Studios on September 17 and 18 at the Center, with work displayed by our affiliate and associate artists. The Center will be open 11AM-4PM each day.

THOMAS A. SELLAS, AND BIG ART AT EGFAC – AUGUST 6-25, 2022

Elk Grove, July 1, 2022 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center will present American River and Greece Paintings by Thomas A. Sellas, and BIG Art at EGFAC by the Center’s represented artists, August 6-25, 2022. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception on August 6 from 4-7PM.

Sellas presents new work featuring American River scenes and paintings from the Greek island of Paros in a summertime collection. A local fine artist and graduate of Sacramento State, Sellas taught art in the Elk Grove Unified School District for over 30 years, and specializes in local river scenes, abstracts, and the landscapes of Greece and the Aegean.

The Center also presents BIG Art at EGFAC by our represented artists as we fill the walls with oversized landscapes, still life, and figurative paintings. Artists were asked to stretch themselves and their canvases to create new work suitable for statement pieces on large walls in homes, offices, and major collections.

ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL – JULY 2-28, 2022

Elk Grove, June 1, 2022 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center will present All Creatures Great and Small, an annual art competition show July 2-28, 2022. This year’s competition is judged by local artist Yvonne Bonacci. The Center will open for a First Saturday Public Reception on July 2 from 4-7PM.

Our July art competition show features animals of all sizes, colors and shapes. Artists were asked to express themselves in a fun and creative way to show the essence of an animal they find interesting. All artwork in this show is newly created work that has not been seen in previous competition at the Center. Artists present animal themes in all mediums.

The Center will award cash prizes for Best of Show, and 1st and 2nd Place artists.
