About the Class: Capture the beauty of autumn from a unique perspective in this beginner watercolor class. Students will learn to paint colorful fall foliage viewed from below, looking up through the treetops toward the sky. This project introduces watercolor techniques for creating loose, expressive leaves, layering color, and adding simple branch details while building confidence with wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting.

Welcome and Introduction

• Supplies and materials overview
• Understanding watercolor paper, brushes, and paint

Watercolor Fundamentals

• Water to paint ratios (tea, coffee, milk, cream)
• Understanding wet, damp, dry paper

Technique Practice

• Wet on wet
• Wet on dry
• Layering and glazing
• Hard and soft edges

Painting Elements

• Creating a soft sky background
• Building depth through layers and values
• Dry brush and detail work

Final Project

• Step by step demonstration
• Guided painting time
