FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ABSTRACTLY SPEAKING, AMY VIDRA, AND STOP STIGMA SACRAMENTO – MAY 4-23, 2024
Elk Grove, April 1, 2024 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center will present the Abstractly Speaking Competition Show, new work by Amy Vidra, and a special collection of Stop Stigma Sacramento May 4-23, 2024. The exhibitions will open with a First Saturday Public Reception and Awards Presentation on May 4, 2024 from 4-7PM.
Abstractly Speaking is an annual art competition that challenges artists to create emotional and powerful artwork using abstract shapes, forms, colors, and textures. Abstract artwork often tells a different story to each viewer as they explore patterns from the recognizable to the surreal. This year’s exhibition is judged by mixed-media artist Carrie Markel.
Amy Vidra presents Baggage, Boats, Sight Lines in the Featured Gallery. These “things that seemingly don’t go together but do” are a three-series collection representing raw materials, simplicity, and time. Vidra hopes to present work that connects her past, present and future, and invites the viewer to create their own vision in these raw and simplistic forms.
May is Mental Health Month and the Center is pleased to showcase work curated by Stop Stigma Sacramento as part of the “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project. All art displayed helps to dispel myths and stereotypes about mental illness and promote messages of wellness and hope.
EGFAC reminds our patrons and supporters that we have moved to a new location on Historic Main Street in Old Town Elk Grove. The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center is located at 9020 Elk Grove Boulevard Suite 101. Business hours have expanded to Wednesday through Saturday from 11AM-5PM and Sunday 11AM-4PM.
