FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COVID COLLABORATIVE WITH JOE MARISCAL AND LESLIE TROUTMAN – AUGUST 7-26, 2021
Elk Grove, July 5, 2021 – The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center will present COVID Collaborative with Joe Mariscal and Leslie Troutman, August 7-26, 2021. Join us for a First Saturday Art Reception on August 7, 2021, from 4-7PM at the Center.
During the COVID pandemic, communication with friends and family has become very difficult, we have had to rely mainly on social media to keep in touch with each other. To fill the void, two of my artist friends started drawing at least one self-portrait daily. Inspired by their work… I took selfies of myself making faces and started drawing. I then started to include COVID masks on my portraits. – Joe Mariscal
Mariscal incorporates work by his granddaughter Leslie Troutman, who lends her creativity to the artwork seen inside the masks on top of Mariscal’s sketched portraits. Mariscal is a retired art teacher from the San Joaquin Delta Community College in Stockton, California. Troutman is a recent graduate of the Bear Creek High School.
The Center will also show work in all mediums by our represented artists.
