About the Artist

My work often explores the relationships between animals, humans, and the earth. Some pieces hold a memory: my grandfather dressed as Santa the last Christmas before his memory began to fade, or a pet who has since passed. In others, I address ongoing problems in society… with themes of over-poaching and environmental decay, and more recently my Anthropomorphic series dresses animals in human finery and asks a simple question: how much distance really exists between us and them?

My goal in art is to start discussions and to see the impact of my work on other people. It’s a form of media where I can capture the memories of my life and my love for animals while also leaving a lasting impression on others.

Inspired by Claude Monet’s use of impressionism and his loose style, I flow organically in art, capturing my ever-changing ideas the way water finds its own path down a hill. I avoid black and gray pigments, mixing complementary colors and dark values to achieve those tones, bringing vibrancy to my paintings. I incorporate diverse colors and bold brushwork to get the feeling I’m after. Beyond brushwork, I pursue detail work in pencil and pastel drawing, furthering my passion for capturing exact moments in time.
