About the Exhibitions
These exhibitions at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center run concurrent with NCECA Fertile Ground.
GATHER

Works by seven ceramic artists exploring visual, metaphoric, and transformative interactions between ceramic materials and collected objects. Chotsani Elaine Dean, Rachel Eng, Jesse Ring, Dennis Ritter, Amy Santoferraro, Grace Tessein, and Casey Whittier. Organized by Dennis Ritter.
TEXTOLOGY

Presenting the sculptural potency of written language through varied ceramic approaches, Textology artists implicitly and explicitly mine richly layered meanings from the ubiquitous, global terrain of text. Stephanie Lanter, Dawn Holder, Emily O’Keeffe Connell, Kwan Jeong, Malcolm Mobutu Smith, Mimi Joung, Nicole Seisler, Thomas Müller, and Xia Zhang. Organized by Stephanie Lanter.
About NCECA Fertile Ground
Fertile Ground, the 56th Conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. The annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) provides opportunities to build and strengthen professional networks and experience lifelong learning with friends, colleagues, mentors, and students. Fertile Ground invites us to gather around an expansive and inclusive table for continued sustenance and dialogue through ceramic art, teaching, and learning.
This conference event is from March 16-19, 2022 in multiple locations across our region, including the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center. The Center will hold a Special Event Reception on March 17 from 4:30-9:30PM.
