Our History
The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center (EGFAC) first came into being when artists in our area envisioned having a local gallery in which to display their work, and where art classes and events could be held promoting artistic awareness in our community. EGFAC became a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Corporation on 11/29/07, and opened the art center on 4/26/08 at 9701 Elk Grove-Florin Road.
In 2009, we moved to 9080 Elk Grove Boulevard in Old Town Elk Grove where we had 1100 square feet of space including the workshop and gallery space. We soon outgrew this location and in December 2018, we moved to 9683 Elk Grove-Florin Road in the Emerald Park Plaza Shopping center, where we had over 2400 square feet of space. Popular annual events included our many art competition shows and the annual Elk Grove Art Tour which evolved into the Elk Grove Festival of the Arts in 2022.
In December 2023, the Center had an opportunity to return to Old Town Elk Grove and we moved to our new home at 9020 Elk Grove Boulevard Suite 101, the building formerly occupied by Frank Maita. This new space allows for expanded workshops, gallery office and storage areas, a new Featured Gallery space and displays for our Community Art Display.
Our impact to the local arts community has continued to grow through public events such as the annual Elk Grove Festival of the Arts, a regular schedule of adult art workshops and classes, the yearly Small Treasures Show, and through our participation in the annual Big Day of Giving.
As our community grows, we continue to seek ways to support the artistic community of Elk Grove and our region.
