Plein air watercolor with David Peterson
Saturday June 24, 2023 from 11AM-3:30PM at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center
Workshop Registration: $45
Materials Fee: $10 paid to the instructor at the workshop
COURSE DESCRIPTION -Students of all levels will come to this workshop pre-pared to paint Emerald Plaza subjects. outdoors, or at least sketch outdoors and paint later in the classroom from sketches. Don’t want to paint this shopping center, bring a sketch from life of your favorite subject. David will present a brief lecture followed by a demo. After the demo the class will work outdoors making a design sketch and then paint a half sheet watercolor. David will be available for personal assistance. We will finish up with our paintings in the studio and will assemble for a critique 30 minutes before dismissal. The point of the class is to practice painting fast and loose from life!
MATERIALS – Students will bring the watercolor kit they normally use, prepared to paint half- sheet sized paintings. Tables provided in classroom. If you are new to watercolor painting you may arrange to a pay, to the instructor, a $10 fee for paper and paint and use the instructor’s palettes and brushes.
ABOUT DAVID – Renewing himself with the passion to paint that he had as a 19-year-old, David now paints hundreds of paintings a year, mainly outdoors throughout Sacramento County. David portrays the familiar scenes of our neighborhood in a humorous and enigmatic way. Since 2003, he has been accepted into dozens of juried shows and has won over five-dozen awards. David’s work can be seen at Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Rancho Cordova City Hall, and many juried shows including Elk Grove Fine Arts Center.
