Healing Arts Open Studio with Amy Vidra
Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 2-3:30PM at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center
Workshop Fee: $45 / Materials Fee: $20
About the Workshop
The Healing Arts Open Studio Workshop provides an informal studio format where participants will be guided into therapeutic art making. Through the use of art as a healing language instead of focusing on art technique, participants may address various difficult emotions or situations in their lives, while being in a creative and supportive environment. Art-based interventions can improve a person’s coping skills and their overall quality of life. Creating art in a supportive, safe environment provides opportunities for discussion, education, and connecting with peers. The art media utilized is carefully chosen to create an outlet for topics such as depression, anxiety, loss, family issues, and transition of life issues, providing tangible ways to help contain and manage emotions, and the opportunity to discuss and share. Participants may choose the focus of their art making for the workshop, or may choose from a list of topics suggested by facilitator.
Instructor will provide all materials but participants may bring in pictures or personal items they may want to incorporate in their art.
About the Instructor
Amy Vidra’s extensive training and experience from fifteen years of working as an art therapist and counselor, alongside creating and showing her work as an abstract artist, has lead her to want to combine both of these passions into one. During her time as an art therapist, she had witnessed the positive and powerful transformation art can have on a person’s healing journey and the way art is a form of connection to others and the world.
