Encaustics 101 with Linda Nunes

Students will gain basic knowledge and leave with hands-on experience in this unique and luminous medium, a written packet of material including a comprehensive resource list, confidence to move forward in this ancient medium and several finished projects.
Students learn basic encaustic skills: Fusing/heating, layering, embedding, incising and more.
Hands-on techniques: Using encaustic with collage, watercolor, working under, within and on top of the encaustic layers, embedding 3D objects, using mixed media & image transfer techniques.
Instructor will supply most materials. Please review the suggested basic art supply list.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Linda is an award winning artist who grew up in California’s Bay Area and is widely known for her abstract or surreal encaustic or cold wax/oil paintings. Her art journey has taken her through collage, acrylic, cold wax and encaustic, an ancient and luminous bee’s wax process. Her contemporary style moves to a playful and whimsical tune. Linda’s work has been shown throughout California as well as Chicago, Santa Fe and Dallas. Her art degree is from CSU, Sacramento.
