A Celebration of Art with EGUSD – February 2023

A Celebration of Art 2023

EGUSD students in grades 9–12 were invited to participate in a new exhibition at the Center. We challenged them to use traditional artistic expression, or to surprise us to make us think, and articulate emotions in new and exciting ways. Award Ribbons will be given during the First Saturday reception.

Please enjoy a few images from the collection, and visit the Center to see the full exhibition.

About the Judge

Marcelle Wiggins is a Sacramento based artist, who is currently working in the medium of painting influenced by a traditional media and digital art background. Marcelle’s work is a mapping of personal territory, concerning relationships of color and dimensional form combined with ambiguous images derived from biomorphic forms, commonplace objects, symbols, and calligraphy.

Marcelle received a Master of Fine Arts Degree in painting from San Francisco Art Institute. She has lectured and taught a variety of studio art courses since 1986 at San Francisco Art Institute, Yuba Community College, Sierra College, Cosumnes River College and California State University Sacramento. She was teaching assistant and substitute instructor for nationally known artist Oliver Lee Jackson at CSUS prior to teaching studio classes there for ten years. Currently, Marcelle teaches Drawing and Color Theory at Cosumnes River College.
